GOODYEAR, AZ- An investigation is underway after a 3-year-old girl died in foster care last month.

“I just know the baby didn’t go to sleep and wrap a blanket around her head,” said her grandmother, Vicky Shepard. “They said the blanket was wrapped around her head, in her mouth.”

Goodyear Police got a call about 11 a.m. on July 30 from a foster home near Yuma Steet and Estrella Parkway saying 3-year-old Apollonia Yanez wasn’t breathing after she went down for a nap. “She’s beautiful, young, intelligent,” said her dad, Eddie Yanez.

The Assistant to the Chief in Goodyear, John Rowan, confirmed four other kids were inside the home when the 3-year-old was found unconscious. They included the victim’s 9-year-old sister and 2-year-old brother along with the foster parents’ biological children.

Paramedics attempted CPR, but Rowan said the 3-year-old later died after being transported to West Valley Hospital.

The victim’s dad, Eddie Yanez, said he suspects foul play because there’s “no way possible that this could happen to an innocent 3-year-old under the State of Arizona foster care.”

Yanez’s biggest concern is not just finding out if this was murder, but also getting his two other children back. He said he’s clean now and ready to care for them, but he’s worried this won’t be a priority because his family doesn’t have the money to fight this. “I made a thousand phone calls and not one person ever got back to me,” said Shepard. “I just want answers, that’s all I want.” Shepard said for her a key piece to the investigation is that her 3-year-old granddaughter hated blankets.

“She would kick ‘em off, fight ‘em off or cry, she didn’t like them,” she said.

Goodyear Police are not calling the death suspicious and say they’re waiting for the autopsy results. They’re still interviewing the foster parents.

But Rowan confirms all of the children, including the foster parents’ biological children, have been removed from the home which he said is standard during this type of death investigation.

Judge Orders Release of Caylee Evidence

ORLANDO, Fla. —  A judge ordered prosecutors Tuesday to turn over photos and X-rays of the remains of Caylee Anthony to defense attorneys for her mother, who is charged with murdering the Orlando toddler.A jail spokesman said Casey Anthony will not be able to attend a funeral or viewing for her daughter due to her charges and the associated safety and security risks.

Caylee’s skeletal remains were found Dec. 11 by a meter reader in woods near the house where she lived with her mother and grandparents. The meter reader in August had phoned in his suspicions that something related to the case was in the swampy area. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday released the 911 calls made by the meter reader, Roy Kronk, whose route covered the Anthony home and a school near the woods where he found the body.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the response of deputies and dispatchers to those phone calls. A deputy came to the area after the first call but couldn’t locate Kronk. The second call was referred to a tip line set up after Caylee’s disappearance. A deputy met up with Kronk after the third call but cleared the scene as a place of interest.

In one of the August phone calls, Kronk described “something white and round” underneath a tree in the swamp. Kronk told the 911 dispatcher that he didn’t want to get a better look of what it was because he feared rattlesnakes.

“I don’t know what it is but it doesn’t look like something that should be there,” Kronk said.

In one of the calls, the dispatcher told Kronk to contact the tip line. Kronk was hesitant since he wanted to remain anonymous. The dispatcher assured him he could remain anonymous.

“Not if they find a freaking body,” Kronk said.

Orange County Circuit Judge Stan Strickland granted the request by defense attorneys who say those and other items, such as microscopic slides and autopsy reports, are needed so defense experts can conduct their own autopsy. Last week, the chief medical examiner in Orlando ruled the death a homicide, but said how Caylee Anthony died may never be known.

Caylee was 2 when she went missing in the summer, but her remains were not found until this month. Her mother, Casey Anthony, has been charged with the girl’s murder.

The attorney for the toddler’s grandparents, George and Cindy Anthony, said a public memorial service will be held for the little girl. The grandparents planned to hold a private service and a public memorial for Caylee, said attorney Brad Conway.

Conway said the service won’t be held until after a second autopsy on the remains is conducted

Original Info on Quartey

QUARTEY – GUILTY AS CHARGED !!!!! Another scumbag goes to jail where she will find ultimate justice.

In Aurora, Colorado, Susie Ida Quartey, 35, called 911 to report that her three-year-old daughter, Jolyn Torpoh wasn’t breathing. When officers arrived at their home, the child was dead. Quartey told police she was carrying Jolyn on her back when she and her daughter fell onto rocks in the family’s backyard.

However, police believe Quartey beat her daughter repeatedly with a metal towel rod and a clothes hanger. Autopsy photographs show that Jolyn suffered at least 50 blows, which resulted in puncture wounds and bruises along her legs, face and backside.

Quartey has been charged with sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and assault with a deadly weapon, both felonies. She is also charged with child abuse resulting in bodily injury, which is a misdemeanor.

Quartey is an immigrant from Ghana, and is being held on $500,000 bond because she’s considered a flight risk.

I’m not sure why this so-called mother has been charged with sexual assault. The newspapers reported that the child was found naked by police, but the coroner must have found something else.

Susie Quartey Guilty of Child Abuse

— A woman convicted in the death of her 3-year-old daughter last year faces 16 to 48 years behind bars at a sentencing hearing in February.

Jurors in Arapahoe County convicted Susie Quartey of child abuse resulting in death Friday.

Her daughter died after Quartey called 911 to report that the girl had stopped breathing.
Police said the girl had been beaten, but Quartey told officers her daughter was injured in a fall in the yard.

Adam Walsh Killer Identified

On Tuesday, police closed their investigation. They said a serial killer who died more than a decade ago in prison was responsible for Adam’s death. They admitted making crucial errors in the case and apologized to the Walshes.

But Adam’s death, and his father’s transformation from a hotel developer to an activist, helped put missing children’s faces on milk cartons and in mailboxes, started fingerprinting programs and increased security at schools and stores.

Ottis Otoole died in prison and we can only hope it was a painful death.
